Hijama

Is it safe to do Hijama?

The incisions made during Hijama are extremely shallow and only penetrate the surface layers of the skin. This minimizes the risk of deep tissue injury while allowing for the targeted release of interstitial fluid and blood.

We use single-use, disposable lancet and cups and follow strict hygiene standards to prevent cross-contamination and infection.

Is Hijama Painful?

Hijama is generally described as uncomfortable rather than painful. Most people compare the sensation to a light pinch or a quick scratch, and the feeling typically subsides as the treatment progresses.

What to Expect

  • The Suction: When the cups are first applied, you will feel a tight, pulling sensation on the skin. This can feel strange or slightly intense for the first minute, but the area usually becomes numb shortly after.
  • The Pricks: The pricks made are extremely superficial—only reaching the very top layer of the skin. Because they are so shallow and quick, many patients describe them as feeling like a tiny prick or a "cat scratch."
  • Natural Pain Relief: The process of suction actually stimulates the release of endorphins, your body’s natural painkillers. This often leads to a feeling of deep relaxation or "lightness" during and after the session.

What are the side effects of Hijama?

Because Hijama is a minimally invasive procedure, side effects are generally mild and temporary. They are typically localized to the treatment area and resolve within a few days to a week. Common effects include:

  • Bruising and Discoloration: This is the most common side effect. The circular marks are essentially bruises caused by the suction pulling blood to the surface; these typically fade on their own.
  • Minor Skin Irritation: Some people may experience slight redness, tenderness, or itching at the site of the cups or the superficial incisions.
  • Fatigue or Dizziness: Some individuals may feel a sense of tiredness or lightheadedness immediately following the session, similar to how some feel after a blood test or a long massage. Ensure that you are well hydrated before you come for your session.

Who should avoid Hijama?

You should avoid this treatment if you fall into any of the following categories:

  • Individuals with Bleeding/Clotting Disorders: People with conditions like hemophilia or anyone with a low platelet count are at higher risk for excessive bleeding or difficulty with wound healing.
  • Those with Severe Anemia: Removing even small amounts of blood may exacerbate symptoms of anemia, such as extreme fatigue or dizziness.
  • Certain Medical Conditions: Individuals with active cancer, severe heart failure, or kidney failure should avoid Hijama unless specifically cleared by their primary physician.
  • Pregnancy: It is generally advised to avoid Hijama during pregnancy, particularly on the lower back or abdomen, due to the physiological changes and potential for stress.
  • Skin Issues: Those with open wounds, burns, infections, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), or areas with severe skin diseases like psoriasis or active eczema should avoid doing Hijama.

Logistics & Booking

What should i wear?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing or bring along a pair of baggy shorts. It is best to wear something you don't mind getting a small amount of oil on.

Is there a lift at our location?

Yes, there is! Our lift is shared between two blocks and is conveniently located right in front of the POSB ATM.

Do you accept walk ins.

To provide each client with dedicated time and care, we operate exclusively by appointment and cannot accept walk-ins.

What long is 1 session?

Most of our sessions is typically between 1 to 1 1/2 hour.

If you arrive late, do note that your session will still end at the original end time— this helps us stay on schedule for the next client and give our therapists their well-deserved breaks.

If you arrive early and no one answers the door, it likely means a session is still in progress. Please drop us a text that you've arrived early and wait for our therapist to attend to you.

Cancellation & Rescheduling

To secure your appointment, a non-refundable deposit is required. We kindly ask for at least 48 hours' notice for any changes. Rescheduling or cancelling with less than 48 hours' notice will result in the loss of your deposit, and a new booking will be necessary to see us again.

Pricing & Payment

What payment methods do you accept?

Why is a deposit required?

A deposit is required to officially secure your booking and reserve dedicated time or resources for your project. By providing a deposit, you ensure that your date is locked into the calendar and cannot be offered to other clients.

To keep things fair for everyone, deposits are non-refundable. Because your booking means other requests for that same time or product are turned away, the deposit helps cover the initial prep work and administrative costs that begin the moment your spot is secured.

When do i pay the balance amount?

Balance payment is paid after the session is over, before you leave. If there is no changes to your package, the balance amount is reflected in your email booking.

Post Treatment

How often should i book a session?

To see the best results, consistency is key! Most clients find that visiting once every 4 to 6 weeks is the "sweet spot." This timing allows your body to fully process the benefits of your last session while staying on track with your long-term goals. We can always chat during your visit to see if a slightly different schedule works better for your specific needs.

What should i do after my session?

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to help your system stay refreshed.

Listen to your body: While you’ll start to see the benefits right away, the full effect of your treatment usually shines through the next few days. Once any initial swelling or sensitivity has had a chance to settle, you’ll really be able to enjoy the results!

Some may experience Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) which may take 24 to 72 hrs to disappear.

In the meantime, the best thing you can do is rest and recover. Giving your body a little downtime helps the treatment work its magic and ensures you get the most out of your session.
